小学校の運動会ってどういうもの？英語で説明してみよう

オーストラリアでは運動会はあっても、玉入れという存在がないそうです。海外ではどんな運動会をしているのか、興味深いですね。

今回は、日本の小学校の運動家について英語で説明してみましょう。

Japanese sports festivals, or “undokai,” are major events held at schools and within communities. They typically involve a variety of activities.

• Footraces
  Classic individual races where participants compete for the fastest time.
• Team Competitions:
  • Tamaire (Beanbag Toss): Teams compete to throw the most beanbags into a basket within a set time.
  • Tug-of-War: Two teams pull on opposite ends of a rope, aiming to pull the other team over a line.
  • Kiba-sen (Cavalry Battle): Riders on the backs of teammates try to capture the flags of opposing teams.
  • Relay Races: Teams pass a baton to each other, racing to be the fastest.
• Group Performances:
  • Dance: Classes or entire grade levels perform choreographed dances to music.
  • Kumi-taisou (Group Gymnastics): Students create various formations and pyramids. (Due to safety concerns, some schools have revised or discontinued this activity.)
